The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, under the scientific direction of Professor Roberto Di Marco, began its activities in 2005, alongside the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Molise, where Professor Di Marco is one of the founding faculty members.

Located on the third floor of the University’s Third Multipurpose Building, within the Department of Medicine and Health Sciences, the laboratory is structured into two operational areas:

• Lab A, dedicated to microbial cultures.

• Lab B, used for handling cell lines in in vitro studies of microbial activity and for molecular biology analyses.

For several years, the University of Molise and the University of Catania have maintained a strong and fruitful collaboration in the fields of microbiological and biotechnological research. Together, they carry out joint projects in basic research, scientific consulting, and technical support, offering public and private entities access to highly specialized know-how in support of Research & Development (R&D).

Today, this partnership between the two laboratories stands as a successful model of integration between academic research and industrial applications, aimed at developing innovative diagnostic, therapeutic, and technological solutions in the biomedical field. The laboratory serves as a reference point for cutting-edge scientific activities, both nationally and internationally.
